Container Deposit Scheme
In late 2020, Job Pathways was part of the launch for Western Australia’s Container Deposit Scheme, known as Containers for Change.
Containers for Change is a container recycling scheme run by Western Australia Return Recycle Renew (WARRRL), a not-for-profit organisation created to deliver the Containers for Change program in WA. The scheme aims to reduce litter, improve recycling efforts, and get all involved in keeping WA beautiful.
East Kimberley Job Pathways partnered with Containers for Change and operate multiple permanent and mobile refund points across the East Kimberley, with regular visits to remote communities as well as presence in more populated areas.
Eligible containers can be exchanged at a Containers for Change refund point for 10c, which can be deposited directly into the customer’s bank account, returned in cash, or donated to a charity or community group of the customer’s choice.
By partnering with Containers for Change, we aim to encourage locals to recycle more containers and help to build even more pride in the beautiful landscapes of the East Kimberley. Through the delivery of this program, Containers for Change can make a difference to our environment, create jobs, and support local communities and community groups.
