All Abilities Sports and Recreation

In 2021, East Kimberley Job Pathways launched the East Kimberley All Abilities Sports and Recreation program, to connect people with a disability to access sport and recreation activities in the East Kimberley.

The East Kimberley All Abilities Sports and Recreation program is an opportunity for people with disabilities, their families, and supporters, to engage with and enjoy community sport and recreation activities.

The program aims to support people with a disability to access sport and recreation activities within their local communities, as well as providing advocacy, linking people with their choice of sport, and, if required, providing equipment to enable participation.

Additionally, the All Abilities Sports and Recreation program aims to assist participants with building social and professional skills that can be used within a sports and recreation environment, and also transferred to other areas of life.

Kununurra Warriors Boxing club provides opportunities for all abilities to participate in boxing activities for health and fitness, with Boxing every Tuesday & Thursday from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm, and Strength & Conditioning every Wednesday from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Venue: The Shed at Picture Gardens, Coolibah Drive

Free entry into the park is available for vehicles for those who are participating in the walk. All people with disabilities in Kununurra and the East Kimberley are welcome to attend these events with their support person or family. Netball games with a new all abilities program, running for the duration of the 2021/22 wet season. Current season running to August 2021. Spectators are welcome.

Net Set Go, Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 5:30pm | Junior Netball, Thursdays from 4:00pm to 5:30pm | Women’s Netball (adults), Thursdays from 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Parkrun is a free, weekly community exercise event that takes place all around the world. It is a 5km event with no time limit – it’s not a race against anybody but yourself. Parkrun aims to be a positive, welcoming, and inclusive experience, whether you walk, jog, run, volunteer, or spectate. Kununurra Parkrun welcomes people of all abilities and capabilities to participate in the event. It is a great opportunity to enjoy social exercise or set yourself a distance or time goal to achieve!

Kununurra Gymnastics has a program for children with all abilities. | Kindergym, Tuesdays from 2:30pm to 3:15pm, for early learners, targeted ages 0-5 and any child that is happy to be accompanied by a parent or carer.

There are also options of Fun Gym and General gymnastics and other options can be looked at individually.

Kununurra Community Garden provides opportunities for all abilities to participate in gardening, planting, harvesting, herbal teas, cooking, social, and educational activities.

Sunday mornings, 7:00am – 9:00am

Kununurra Community Garden provides opportunities for people of all abilities to volunteer to help in cooking and serving food for a free Sunday feed.

Volunteers arrive by 2:00pm. Free feed at 4:00pm.

Kununurra Taekwondo club welcomes people with all abilities. Suitable for 6-year old to adults.

Run as an incorporated not for profit club, we practice World Taekwondo Federation style taekwondo and are associated with the Chungdokwan Taekwondo school.  Our club practices a mix of traditional taekwondo and sport taekwondo offering self-defence, poomse, sparring, wood breaking and much more in a fun and friendly atmosphere for six-year-olds and above.

Walking Basketball is a low-impact, social and fun way to improve the levels of physical activity for participants across all abilities, ages and genders and helps to maintain and improve health and decrease risk factors associated with sedentary behaviour.

Social Tennis is a great way to enjoy a game of tennis, increase or maintain your fitness level, meet new people, or have some fun with family and friends. No experience necessary – all you need is enthusiasm! Pick up a racquet and enjoy some tennis, regardless of your age or ability, in a relaxed and friendly environment without pressure or commitment.
